Anjali Rao- RYT200
Anjali's Yoga journey began when she underwent surgery for a major health issue. Yoga was a means to regain strength and reconnect back with her body in a holistic way. After her first class at Mind Body Zone, she was in love and she knew she wanted to teach. She completed her 200 hours of Teacher Training at MBZ and is now doing her 300 hour training. She believes that yoga is a powerful tool to build community and that we are all in a journey together to realize our individual potential. Her style of teaching is a combination of asanas and mindfulness. Her believe is that when this awareness of the self is taken off the mat, it can be a powerful way to bring together mind, body and spirit. She teaches vinyasa at many corporate sites and gentle Yoga at a hospital for those dealing with health challenges.

azra

Azra Wilson

She completed a teacher certification program with Avalon Yoga in Palo Alto, California and has taken workshops with Shiva Rea, Bryan Kest, Rod Stryker, Elise Miller, Sean Corn, Baron Baptiste, Rodney Yee and Sarah Powers. Azra’s passion and mission is to encourage her students to challenge themselves while respecting and remaining aware of their physical limits. She guides her students to the technique of Vinyasa (flow) yoga which incorporates fluidity, strength and meditation in motion while combining discipline with intention.

Carole Whitman-Smith RYT 500
Carole began taking classes at MBZ in 2009 because she and her husband were looking for a workout activity that they could do together. Almost immediately she noticed that the practice of moving the body in conjunction with the breath had an immediate benefit of calming the mind and bringing awareness to the here and now. As her practice matured she noticed that small aches, pains and tightness loosened and in some places went away altogether. Through yoga she understood first hand that the body could get stronger and the mind clearer. So inspired, she decided that she would like to have the tools to share these ancient teachings with others. In 2013 she completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at MBZ and is a registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. In 2016 Carole went on to complete an additional 300 hours of yoga study with a deep focus on anatomy with Jason Crandell. As a 500 hour RYT, Carole brings a sense of playfulness to her yoga classes while encouraging the natural alignment that is available in person’s body. She helps students build a strong foundation for their asana while exploring the edge of their abilities. In this she invites her students to begin their own journey of discovering what their body and mind are capable of achieving.

Cynde Lee- RYT200

Cynde began her yoga practice over 13 years ago at MBZ to better manage the daily stress in her life. She found practicing yoga enhanced her overall well being connecting the mind and the body creating a time and space just for her. She embraces the strength, balance, flexibility and energy yoga has given her and wishes to share it with everyone. She completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training here at MBZ and her classes are a mixture of stretch, strength and balance joined together with your breath. Cynde feels very fortunate to be a part of the yoga community.

Hannah Maher- RYT200

She has loved the strength and flexibility yoga has given her body as well as the emotional and mental benefits the practice brings. She wishes everyone would do yoga so as to reap the rewards of pranayama and relaxation. While she is new to teaching yoga, she has years of experience teaching elementary students Physical Education. Her sense of humor and playfulness are evident in her practice and classes!

Laura Ho- RYT 200
Laura’s journey with Yoga started off as bonding experience with her sister when she was a teenager. Through Yoga she learned the importance of self-care and that practicing self-care first is essential to be of useful service to others. Eventually she began to pave her own path in Yoga and started taking classes wherever she could. When she entered college, she discovered the realm of holistic health and devoted her minor studies in Chinese Perspectives of Holistic Health at San Francisco State University from 2009-2014. During her undergrad studies, she completed a 200-HR RYT Yoga Teacher Training at Mind Body Zone. Learning about Yoga intertwined and conversed with her studies in Chinese perspectives of healing at the time and this helped her realize her passion to learn methods of reconciling the mind-body division. Within her yoga classes you will find opportunities to practice meditation, deepen your understanding of your body within yogic posture alignment, and improve the quality of the breath. Ultimately, what she hopes to offer is a safe, non-judgmental space for others to develop their Yoga practice in a way that's authentic to them.

linea mcpherson yoga pilates fremont

Linea McPherson-Owner
Linea has always had a passion for health and fitness; she began her journey into Yoga and Pilates after a skiing accident left her with very little use of her leg. Surgery and physical therapy left her feeling hopeless about her recovery; until she began taking Yoga and Pilates classes. After many months and countless classes she regained full use of her leg and also found that her arthritic pain was no longer an issue. She began taking workshops and even more classes realizing that this was the path for her. She completed a certification through Yoga Fit and two different 200 hour yoga teacher training programs. She knows the importance of proper alignment and the difference it can make in ones overall health. She creates classes that are motivating using breath and mindful movement. She encourages her students to challenge themselves and move through self imposed limitations; creating a life of balance and without pain.

Lynn Cheng Kaylor- E-RYT and Director of Yoga Teacher Training
Lynn began her love and study of yoga over 28 years ago and has been teaching since 1996. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT) and is the Director of Teacher Training at Mind Body Zone and teaches the Techniques, Teaching Methodology and Practicum portions of the training. While she has studied many different styles in her years of practice, she draws the most inspiration from the Iyengar, Ashtanga and Kripalu traditions.

Her classes are eclectic, incorporating aspects from her teachers, intuition and personal study; each class is different and choreographed to beautiful music. Lynn's teaching style emphasizes the importance of body alignment combined with the natural movement of the breath, inner awareness and the vision of the mind-body-spirit connection and holding the postures long enough to experience the essence of the asana.

Her hope for her students is to not only achieve their physical goals (strength, stamina, flexibility, coordination, stress relief, etc.) though asana (postures) and pranayama (breath techniques), but to also come to know, understand and incorporate other aspects of yoga in their lives. She is pursuing her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine and on track to be a licensed acupuntruist and herbalist in 2017. Mary Jane Aberin-Marchan- RYT200

Mary Jane began her yoga journey later in life. Being a mother of two, wife, and pediatric transplant nurse had kept her preoccupied for the better part of a decade, and well into her 30's. It wasn't until her late 30's that she discovered her passion for yoga. After having noticed the natural changes that occur within a woman's body, she tried running as a form of physical activity, which proved to be taxing on her knees. It was through the suggestion of a friend that she was encouraged to try yoga as an alternate activity.

After trying her first class, she discovered her love for yoga and instantly became addicted to its practice. Originally rooted in Bikram, she learned to appreciate all styles, eventually favoring Vinyasa Flow and Hot Power Fusion Yoga for their physical and mental demands, in addition to their detoxifying properties. In doing so, she devoted and immersed herself into both self and studio practice for the next two years, learning as much about body, breath, and mind integration as possible. Through a consistent yoga pactice, she was able to transform her body and mind.

Ultimately, her passion for yoga lead her to complete a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program in June 2014 from Mind Body Zone, under the direction and mentoring of Lynn Cheng Kaylor, deepening her knowledge of yoga history, philosophy, and practice. It is now her passion to share the benefits, joys, and gifts of yoga to others who may be searching for their own passion as well.

Melanie Ballecer- RYT 200

After years of volleyball, triathlons, and cycling left Melanie with a herniated disc and excruciating sciatica in 2002, she decided to try yoga for the first time to help heal her injury. It gave her a sense of grounding, openness, and relaxation that was incredibly different from any other activity she had experienced. Unfortunately, after a serious of health setbacks, she was unable to practice for several years. Fast forward to 2010…feeling better than ever, Melanie remembered her experience with yoga and began dabbling in all its different forms in the Las Vegas community where she lived at the time: Bikram, Vinyasa, Yin, Ashtanga…and loved it all.

After moving back to her hometown of Fremont, CA in 2012, she began practicing daily. Her neck, back, hip, and knee aches and pains began to subside. Yin yoga especially helped to calm her mind and release the stresses of her job (and gained some much needed flexibility in the process). She decided to enroll in the 2013 Mind Body Zone 200 hour teacher training program under the guidance of her mentor, Lynn Cheng Kaylor. Whether you join her for a Yin, Gentle, or Slow Flow Vinyasa class, her love of the practice will leave you smiling.

stephanie johnson reformer group and private classes

Stephanie Johnson
Stephanie was introduced to the Pilates form of exercise in college in a class by the name of Body Strength Alignment.  She was impressed with the results she obtained in muscle tone and flexibility.  A student of dance for 16 years, Stephanie was familiar with body posture and motion through space and time and was immediately hooked on the Pilates form of movement as it seemed to combine the stretching in Yoga with the discipline of dance and the muscle strengthening of resistance training.  She didn't realize until 3 years later, that the class she took in college in college was actually Pilates by another name.  When given the opportunity to instruct she jumped at it for she truly believes in the emotional, physical and the rehabilitative benefit of Pilates. Stephanie has been teaching at Mind Body Zone since 2007. She tailors her instruction to the needs of the client(s). And is very proud of the progress she has witnessed working with clients struggling with mobility issues, coming back from surgeries and maintaining fitness routines pre- and postnatal. Stephanie is a married mommy of a son, a daughter and a boxer named Rocky. In addition to Pilates, she enjoys running and has completed two marathons.
